Follow along as I install a Bomar Low-Profile marine hatch on my 2021 Transit 250 lwb (148?) - 3M 4000 Adhesive, Jigsaw, Sheet Metal, cutting a hole, caulking the hole, better than max air fan b.s.? The hatch cost about $475 and all the materials were probably $100
Leaving the Earthship Homestead (update)

After spending June at the earthship, I’ve decided it’s time to find my own piece of property. My plan is to spend this winter looking at property in the southern USA.
Off-Grid Earthship Homestead in Montana

I’m doing daily updates on TikTok @helladj In May of 2021 I moved Off-grid near Bozeman Montana. I’m working on restoring an old earthship and general homesteading. Collecting rain water, growing food, learning about permaculture, and just being outside more! Here are some links to products I use: Solar Panels amzn.to/2UcxCQW Battery amzn.to/3vJ2uWq Charge controller amzn.to/2Ukw07Y Cables amzn...

That’s what I like. Straight into it with no flim flam filler. Well done!👏
Thanks for sharing. How tall are you? when standing in the van how far over the metal roof would you say your head sticks out? I have a small van I converted to a micro camper and I just have a holes in my roof with the metal bent up and solar panel keeps water out while allowing air flow. For a future van I like the idea of a cargo van with no windows but light and air coming from a roof hatch I can stand up and look out through.
Interesting. Is it water tight, has it leaked?
Genius way to spell, it took like 5-6 videos for it to click with me😂😂
Thank you for this! I want to experiment with different tech like CNC for the carving stage of my own prints and this was helpful to see how that looks compared to hand carved lino
Also I went to king eiders last night
I live in that town. Cool video, you passed my friend’s car, and all the stuff I do every day
😍😍😍
4.50 for this I guess I’ll just design my own and put it up for free
K have fun
Hey isn’t that New Mexico that is opposite Sarina Ontario Canada?
you could have used masking tape to not make a mess on the caulk bead. You definitely should fill the screw holes. maybe use aluminum strips instead of steel if you're worried about rusting.
Sold it to Carmax, so hopefully it works out for them
Why would I subscribe... To hear you say look it's done and you don't show a damn thing.. Do you ever want a favor and get off of youtube.
Another city I lived in years ago!! Thank you for sharing
🔥🔥
So cool
Mountain lion
scared? serious?
scared straight by the long winters. check it out
@@JacksonTravel I watched it. I know long cold lonely winters. I live in the Montana mountains.
Just add another $1 of stretch wrap. It held the first time huh?
Works surprisingly well
link to buy
👍👍👍😊
You're going to need a new boom, duct tape will not hold.

Where did all the trees go in Ireland?
I don’t think that earth ship is designed quite like the normal that uses thermal mass. Props to you got trying this in winter
The part of the earthship you're staying in isn't supposed to be a livable room. That's the greenhouse. The livable rooms are supposed to behind, encased in the dirt/tire mix.
Just fuck it.
Where the other guy came from, quick pickup on the ocean , or helicopter drop off ?😅😅😅😅
Thankyou that was really entertaining. You seem like really nice down to earth people
Lol. "Weeland"
What kind of solar panels do you use

Hey what’s up! Glad to see your making vids
In the world of subscription based revenue, bokashi is just one of those scams. I researched bokashi and tried my own tests and what i found was two significant results. Whatever salt you put in will not breakdown or transform in any way, but it will concentrate, and salt is toxic to most plants. I read a study on em1 in garden soil and found out it was not benificial in the breakdown of soils or liquids but is benificial to animals like worms or chickens gut flora. The most interesting thing i found is, just using layers of garden dirt from spent plants, instead of em1, produced way more white mold in far less time. The bokashi still fermented then composted the same. My next study will be using fermented bokashi between woodchips to produce mushrooms and aerobic composting. Using bokashi leachate and unfermented urine as a complete hydroponic feed, as bokashi leachate (liquid) is low in nitrogen and fresh unfermented urine is high, the left over bokashi solids are high in nitrogen so the results of burying the solids alone will produce green leaves but not as much flowers or fruit as a more complete food, wormcastings and waste probably offsets this for some. Bokashi solids as the nitrogen source in compost will give a more even result in leafmold or woodchips.
Ponderosa Pines, Montana! Nice.
I started my bucket but work got too heavy and I kept getting sick. I didn't manage to fill the bucket all the way (2/3s) and it's been sitting in the garage since July. Trying to steel myself to open the bucket and bury the contents. The plants loved the bokashi liquid in their water.
Ticken chender
Can you fit through and go on the roof? What brand is that?
Yes, Bomar
Sucks having a wind mill attached to your home in a storm don't it ?did that for 6 yrs haha sounds like the house is taking off for Trans Atlantic flight.
True

Where can we get a Captain. Jim?
I've had one sitting in MY GARAGE for 2 years. Dear God I'm afraid to open it
Leave it in there another year and make plants some tomatoes with it next year see if they grow bigger than other ones
I am looking to buy a brand new Transit Connect and turn it into a part time camper. Have you had any problems with your van? I have heard that these vans can have transmission issues but I think it might be the older generation of the Connect that had the problem. Anyway would be interested to hear what mechanical problems you have had with your vehicle.
Hello again haha no I didn’t have any issues with my TC
@@JacksonTravel Hahaha... sorry about that. I didn't mean to post that question twice, lol.
How do you like your van? I am thinking about getting a 2023 connect and am wondering how well it holds up. Do you have the standard engine or the 2.5 liter model? Also I have read that these vans have transmission problems but I am not sure if this with the previous generation or the newer models. Have you had any transmission issues?
I sold it because I was doing more full-time so I got a bigger van. No issues with mine but I only put 20k on it.
@@JacksonTravel What did you trade up to?
Very impressive and cozy setup!
Hey nice walkthrough. Whats this model of hatch? I am having a hard time finding one under 16" wide
WTF IS AN EARTHSHIP are you from outer space with buzz lightyear Love how your scared of your own shadow
That was rude, and you're just ignorant. Good luck
Love it. Gawd, ice on the lifelines! If those waves look that big on video they must looked huge in person.
You're a real man dude sleeping in that tent while building and redoing. My hats off to you I wish I still had the capabilities of physical ability. Being disabled and on a fixed income 400% below poverty. This is the only way I see out to live and have a life again. Sadly someone will have to build mine. But after 12 long years of fighting finally they made a decision in my favor. I just want to live in peace away from any city or city people. I just want to die in peace. I wish you the very best and may god over see you and your journey. This gives me hope again thank u.
Bless. Wish you well.
I can't wait to do this
Great voyage. Love the socks! New wind speed indicator. Dry socks good weather wet socks wet weather No socks very bad weather New boom and new engine all good!
Oh dear, forgot to ease the topping lift when sheeting on the main??? BANG!!
Mine has been sitting there for about 4 months and the tea smells so bad I'm too scared to open the bucket to bury whatever's in there! god the smell.... our neighbours are all so close I'd have to go out in the dark of night to bury it so no one can see who's responsible
GG
There might be something wrong. It should smell like vinegar (bc it's composting) but not garbage stench.
The liquid will stink, but the bokashi itself won't smell gross unless something went wrong. Mine smells like store bought kalmata olives. Lol
